Our Client, a manufacturer of transparent ceramic parts for aerospace and military industries, seeks a quality control engineer with experience in a heavy manufacturing environment. This is a highly visible career opportunity in a rapidly growing company.
Successful Candidate will have:
- Two or years of years of successful experience using statistical techniques and analysis
- (Statistical Process Control / SPC) in an industrial setting.
- Hands-on manufacturing experience with ceramic, glass, or optical materials.
- Solid computer skills, especially in MS Excel and database software such as MS Access.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Sigma Sigma training and /or experience.
- (ASQ, Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Certification highly desired.)
Responsibilities include:
- Develop, write, and maintain in-process and final QC procedures and material specifications.
- Develop and implement supplier quality and corrective action procedures.
- Develop and maintain detailed process maps, control plans, response plans, and Process
- Failure Effect Mode Analyses (PFEMA’s) for manufacturing processes.
- Develop and implement product certification/qualification plans and procedures to comply with customer specifications and requirements.
- Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) programs.
- Assist with identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving process issues that cause product quality issues.
- Support/lead internal investigations to identify root cause and resolve product quality issues discovered by customers.
- Assist with and participate in customer presentations.
- Supervise QC technicians and direct and train technical personnel who are engaged in quality assurance activities.
- Lead efforts to attain ISO/QS quality system certification.
- Conduct Measure System Evaluations and implement system improvements as appropriate.
- Conduct and maintain equipment and instrument calibration certifications.
- Develop and implement product marking and material traceability systems.
- Develop, standardize, and maintain production procedure systems.

Preferred Candidate:
- Will have at least a BS Degree in Ceramic Engineering or a related discipline, with 2 + years hands-on process support or quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Must have the ability to identify process enhancements and lead improvement activities.
- Must be proficient in the use of Autodesk Inventor and Microsoft Office.
- Lean Manufacturing experience is strongly desired.
- Excellent communications skills are a must.

- Take ownership of the manufacturing processes for areas of support, assuring adequate controls are in place for delivery of products in a timely manner.

Our Client seeks a Technician with experience in Plasma and HVOF application of Ceramic coatings for wear resistance, thermal insulation, and electrical insulation on equipment parts.
Preferred Candidate will possess:
- High school diploma plus technical school training or industrial experience in the plasma or HVOF application of hard ceramic coatings. Previous ISO experience preferred
- Knowledge of preparation and finishing steps before and after coating
- Ability to work as a team member in a fast paced, entrepreneurial work environment
- Strong work ethic and an eye for details with an aptitude for hands-on precision work
Responsibilities include:
- Review router work scope for each specific part and fully understand the required operation to be performed.
- Measure thickness or diameter of industrial parts to fractions of 1/1000th of an inch
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Mask parts as required with shields and tape to control areas for coating deposit
- Degrease parts or surface with solvents, grit blasting or other means to ensure a clean surface for coating deposit
- Set up necessary fixture for holding parts during coating spraying operation
- Flame spray powder onto area to the thickness specified by the part work instructions
- Perform preparation processes before coating and finishing processes after coating
- Inspect parts before and after coating to identify potential defects
- Troubleshoot coating process equipment & manufacturing processes
- Record clearly and accurately all necessary information onto any specified documents
- Perform in-process maintenance on equipment used
- Maintain supplies of expendable materials
- Responsible for maintaining a clean well kept work area and department

Our Client, a manufacturer of sensors, feedthroughs, hermetic seals, structural components and other advanced precision ceramic/metal assemblies for medical, aerospace, and industrial use, has a position available due to an internal promotion.
Preferred Candidate
ill have a BS degree in Ceramic Engineering, Material Science or Metallurgical Engineering; a minimum of eight years applicable experience with alumina-based products and ceramic pressing; and the ability to read, interpret and create drawings and technical specifications. Previous ceramic seal and brazing furnace experience preferred. Knowledge of, or previous experience with, plating and metalizing helpful. Knowledge of making forsterite and alumina ceramic parts for structural and/or electronic functions is greatly desired.
Responsibilities include:
Use of accepted engineering practices to ensure the desired yield, quality and cost in the development and manufacture of ceramic and ceramic/metal seal assemblies designed for various high temperature and/or high reliability applications.
This includes:
Design of new products: modification of existing products: direct interaction with customers in support of sales and marketing efforts; development and implementation of new processes to improve manufacturing methods and controls; and utilization of available data to perform failure analyses. Will determine feasibility of new opportunities; support transfer of new or modified products to manufacturing; serve as technical resources to personnel engaged in ceramic-to-metal seal manufacturing, plating, metalizing and material analysis; support ISO/AS requirements and interface with suppliers to assure appropriate material and equipment availability. Some domestic travel required. Will report directly to the Manager of Structural Components and Assemblies.
